What to look for in womens boots for fall and winter
Whether you live somewhere that gets a ton of snow or somewhere like here in the Pacific Northwest that gets a lot of rain & maybe some snow there are things you want to look for in womens boots for any fall or winter weather. We’re sharing some of our tips for selecting quality womens boots for the fall and winter seasons.

Quality slip-resistant tread
My 17-year-old daughter (above) wears the same size shoes as myself and yes she used to constantly borrow moms shoes and boots. Now that she has a few good quality pairs herself that meet her sense of fashion she doesn’t borrow them as often. We love shoes and boots from Lugz for both myself and my daughter and my hubby, they have great quality paired with reasonable prices. 
The boots pictured here and worn by my daughter above are their Womens Mallard Fur 6-inch boot. It has an excellent slip-resistant rubber sole to help prevent slipping and sliding in snowy, wet and/or icy conditions. 
Comfort
Of course, if the boots aren’t comfortable you probably won’t wear them so comfort is, of course, a key tip as well. These Lugz Mallard women’s boots have a memory foam insole to add to the comfort level. They are as my daughter has stated super comfy.
Durability
You want your boots to last to take a look at how they’re made. Does it have quality stitching, does the material look durable? They should also keep your feet warm and dry, hence why you need to make sure it’s made of quality materials and well made of course!
Versatility
We like versatility in our boots. Can they be worn in heavy-duty winter weather, can be they be worn for every day wear, out and about from jeans to leggings? These Mallard boots can be and my daughter does wear them all the time! Including walking our dog Cleo as you can see in the photos. 
Fashionable Womens Boots
While fashionable is not always a must-have for me, for my teenager it is so it’s a bonus that these Mallard boots with the “fur” trimming give it that added touch and kick it up a notch to being fashionable instead of just serviceable boots.

Lugz are really comfy boots that come in a variety of styles. I bought my daughter a purple pair a few years ago and she loves them. They clean easy, are fashionable and also do have really good treads for walking on snow, ice, rain, etc…

Quality Slip-Resistant Tread is such a great feature cause it gets cold and water freezes and then there is ice and might fall so that is a big help.
I’m glad they have a memory foam insole, as well as the inspection for its durability. I would have liked to ask about the fit for the big toe area, as my feet are slightly wide, not enough to be a 4E, but a little wider than a regular size.

Lugz has always been a brand I love and trust. I love the slip resistance.. I am epileptic and always concerned about falls. It’s just an added feature that makes me feel more secure.

I live in Alabama. Winters are often damp or rainy. When it’s cold, damp, and windy, the cold dampness seeps deep into your bones and freezes you. I have a weak immune system. Having boots like Lugz can make all the difference between staying warm and freezing from the feet up! I love the look of them, to boot. Pun intended. 🙂

I really like the idea of the memory foam. The ones I have don’t have that. They are comfortable but I’d still like them to be more comfortable. And, I love the fur.

I really like the slip resistant rubber sole and the memory foam insole. I have always had good luck with any boots or shoes I have purchased from Lugz. They certainly are a quality brand.
Thank goodness both my daughters shot past my shoe size. They steal my clothes. I don’t need them stealing my shoes, too. As for me picking out shoes/boots, I’m at the mercy of just finding a brand that carries a size five. Most don’t. I learned to shop online when I saw all the women enjoying the major shoe sales at the stores that didn’t carry my size. The worst was walking into Belks on a massive shoe sale with boxes everywhere. When I asked about my size, the clerk took me to the back stock room and pointed to a small wall with a chair in front of it. While all the other women were digging through boxes of shoes on sale, there was no sale for my size, and I got taken to the back room. Talk about feeling special–in a bad way!

I walk on woodsy trails almost every day and often there are ice patches or even slippery wet leaves so I am mainly looking for slip-resistant tread like you talked about. The sole on these boots seems ideal! Thank you!
It’s all about the bottoms for me, Lugz always has those nice chunky soles that are great!
These look like great boots need ones with good grips live in Northeast Ontario so get lots of snow and ice.
These are really nice, and now that I walk many places, I’m concerned with functionality not just how cute they are. I love the memory foam insole, and the slip resistance. They are darn cute, too!

I love that these boots have a slip-resistant rubber sole because I actually ended up in the ER this weekend after slipping in my loafers on the wet ground while walking my dog. Thankfully I was not seriously hurt, but it really made me realize I need some traction on my feet!

I like that they have slip resistant rubber soles, that is very important since we tend to get black ice under the snow and the memory foam for comfort is a double plus in my book.
